July 2001, Farmington Hills, Michigan, USA - ROMER is pleased to announce the formation of GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary based in Hannover, Germany, which will form the core of the company's European operations.

Germany is considered the industrial heartland of Europe, and ROMER 's decision to create a base there is common sense, noted Horst Edelmann, the new managing director of GmbH. "Germany plays a strategic role in 's plans to expand into the world market," Edelmann said. "We are now in the major European market, ready to present to future customers the highest technology available in the portable CMM market."

He added that German industries demand the highest level of technology and precision — and ROMER produces the most accurate and advanced portable CMMs in the world, thus being able to provide what the market has sought for a long time.

Edelmann brings more than 20 years of product and sales knowledge to GmbH, having worked in a variety of German manufacturing companies and owning his own portable CMM distribution company.

ROMER manufactures articulating arm portable coordinate measuring machines for inspecting or reverse engineering of fixtures, assemblies or manufactured parts.
