1973
A founder of Eaton Leonard Corporation, Homer Eaton patents then markets a multi-axis articulated arm for tube inspection.
    
1986
Homer Eaton and Romain Granger start ROMER SARL (ROMER France) to introduce a portable articulated arm.

1989
ROMER Inc. is created to market ROMER France products in North America. ROMER France continues to market outside North America.

1996
ROMER Inc. introduces the 1000 Series Portable CMM, designed and manufactured in the United States. The technology is well received and business begins to grow very rapidly.

1998
ROMER Inc. introduces the 7th Axis Linear Rail System, expanding the measuring range for large parts and motor vehicles.

2000
ROMER USA and ROMER France enter into marketing agreement where each will begin marketing into the others' historical territory. In March 2000 ROMER USA establishes CimCore to sell its products outside of North America while ROMER markets products in the U.S.A., Mexico and Canada.

ROMER introduces the high accuracy 3000i™ portable CMM.

2001
ROMER introduces the GridLOK™ 3D large volume measurement system and the STINGER™ portable CMM.

2002
ROMER introduces the SpaceLOK™, the NEW and IMPROVED 3000i™ portable CMM and the NEW STINGER II™ low cost portable CMM.

2003
ROMER introduces the 3000iSC™ seven axes portable CMM, the LSI system - the world's first real-time laser scanning inspection system and the TooLOK™.

2004
ROMER introduces the INFINITE arm at IMTS 2004.

Hexagon AB formally agrees to purchase ROMER.
    
2005
ROMER relocates to Hexagon Metrology Precision Center in Wixom, Michigan, USA.

2006
The company introduces the STINGER IIi™. Based on the proven technology of the STINGER II, the STINGER IIi adds the freedom of infinite rotation and functionality of a new, integrated Zero-G™ Counterbalance system that significantly reduces operator fatigue.
